For those who collapse into “fake fun” — scrolling, binging, numbing — but can’t remember the last time they felt alive in real fun. If joy feels foreign, it’s not because you don’t deserve it. It’s because you haven’t given yourself permission.
These days, I approach fun differently than I used to.
Back then, I bought into the grind. Seven days a week, ten to fifteen hours a day — I thought I was buying my future with sheer effort. The ROI? Not great. Sure, I learned to survive corporate chaos, but I lost memories I can’t get back: family dinners, time outdoors, the kind of laughter that lingers.
Now, fun goes right on the calendar. It’s not an afterthought; it’s a pillar. Music with my band. Camping trips. And my favorite — firing up the ATV and disappearing 100 miles into God’s country, where the phone doesn’t ring and the only sound is the hum of the trail. Those moments don’t just recharge me. They remind me who I am.
The Tiger in me 🐅 thrives on structure, so I schedule joy with intention. The Phoenix 🔥🕊️ renews me when I’m in those moments — reminding me that play is transformation, not indulgence.

Play is not escape. It’s fuel. It strengthens the same systems that help us handle adversity. When you play, you’re not just “having fun” — you’re training your body, mind, heart, and spirit to stay flexible, curious, and strong.
